La jeune Rihanna (Robyn de son vrai nom) est née le 18 février 1988 à la Barbade, île des Caraïbes. La jeune fille développe très tôt un goût prononcé pour la chanson et la danse.

C’est en 2004 que sa carrière décolle. Agée seulement de 16 ans, elle est repérée par le producteur Evan Rogers. Tombé sous le charme, il produit ses premières chansons dont son tube « Pon De replay ». Jay-Z succombe à son tour et produit son premier album.
« Music of the sun » sort fin 2005 et fait un véritable carton.

Mélange entre le r’n’b et le reggae, le style de Rihanna s’impose en 2006 avec la sortie en avril de son second album « A girl like me », emporté par l’excellent single « SOS (rescue me) ».
